Chivalry Is Not Dead In My House

Dr. Laura,

I recently caught a portion of your program where you were commenting on men being gentlemen. My husband is the epitome of the Southern gentleman!

He opens doors for me; he moves me to the inside of the sidewalk; he drives almost everywhere; he will even pull in behind me to pump my gas for me if we are driving separately! We are both teaching our two young sons the art of being a gentleman, but my husband is leading by example.

The other day, I asked our 7-year-old son, to hold the door open for two ladies. They thanked him. I prompted him to say "you're welcome". One of the ladies patted me on the shoulder and said: "good job, Mama". While I would love to take the credit, I know that they are merely following what they see their Daddy living out on a daily basis.

Chivalry is not dead...at least not in our house! After ten years of marriage later this month it is not even taking a nap. Thank you for keeping up the good fight and for keeping our moral compasses pointed in the right direction.

Jaime
