Recently you talked about how parents want printed books for their children instead of ebooks and the value of reading to children.  I recently won a full scholarship to return to college and complete my degree. One of the essay questions asked "What do you consider to be your 'Major accomplishments'"? I responded I have raised my children (now ages 21 and 24) to be readers. They read not just for schoolwork or general information, but for pleasure.

I also included the last verses of poet Strickland Gillian's "The Reading Mother" which I read many years ago (pre-motherhood) and have never forgotten.

"You may have tangible wealth untold,
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be
I had a mother who read to me."
