When I was growing up, to earn my weekly allowance, my dad used to have me write an essay. One week, he assigned me to write about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote a paper about how I wanted to be a housewife and stay-at-home mom. He gave me the paper back, and said it wasn't acceptable. He made me re-write it, choosing a "real career". Just to get my allowance, I wrote what he wanted; I knew he wanted me to be a lawyer as he was. But, I never forgot how mad that made me. By the way, when I had my kids, I did become a stay-at-home mom, and it has been the best thing I have ever done in my life. I have 2 fantastic children who reflect my (and my husband's) values.
