IconVolunteering for the military means a number of important things: It's a noble act of patriotism It means accepting authority over every aspect of your life It's a seriously dangerous job It's not exactly a high-paying job You get benefits during and after service You have a community of support It involves structure and discipline It's a heroic endeavor It is an honorable, self-sacrificing career It is worthy of great respect So, when someone wishes to volunteer for relatively low pay and high danger to protect you and me, I say "THANK YOU" and "huzzah!" IconToday we had a debate on day care for our speech class (for college) and I was the lead speaker for the side that argues against day care (it was 2 guys, versus 3 girls who supported day care). It was one hour long, and I must say I almost wanted to vomit upon hearing the other debaters. Their reasons for supporting day care were nothing more than "I, ME, and MINE." More >>

IconAAA Hawaii's Annual Holiday Season Travel and Shopping Poll of 250 local residents reveals that 76% plan to primarily shop this holiday with credit or debit cards. However, almost four in ten of surveyed shoppers have little or no concern about identity fraud happening to them this holiday shopping season! Identity theft is rampant throughout the holiday season. Over the past 3 years stolen data being used in less than one week jumped from  33%  to  71% , meaning that they steal today and shop today.  Identity thieves count on our lackadaisical attitude toward monitoring our wealth. IconIn the election last week, Missy Reilly Smith ran for Washington DC delegate to the United States House of Representatives (she lost to Eleanor Holmes Norton).  Smith ran largely as an anti-abortion candidate. She ran 30 second ads which aired 24 times on local broadcast network affiliates across the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area, preceded by a 15 second warning (added by the station management) due to the shocking content.
